
PAFP Annual Physicians Awards
Celebrating Excellence in Family Medicine
To recognize and honor PAFP member physicians in Pennsylvania who are committed to the very best in patient care, public health and teaching, the PAFP awards the following honors each year.
The 2026 award winners will be recognized at the President’s Reception & Dinner Gala at the PAFP Spring CONNECT Conference at Wind Creek Bethlehem on Friday, April 3, 2026.
In recognition of outstanding patient care and dedication to the field of family medicine, this award is given to a physician who:
- demonstrates a commitment to comprehensive, compassionate care for patients;
- pursues excellence in medicine with integrity and the highest of ethical standards;
- promotes trust in science, honors the physician-patient relationship, and furthers the specialty of family medicine; and
- serves as a role model and motivator to patients and colleagues.
The PAFP Family Physician of the Year is selected each year from among PAFP physician members in good standing whose practice of medicine inspires others and enhances the quality of life of patients and colleagues.
In recognition of outstanding leadership in the field of family medicine, this award is given to a physician who:
- demonstrates a history of impactful leadership that furthers the practice and priorities of family medicine;
- motivates and collaborates with others in support of family medicine; and
- provides vision, clarity and communication to achieve goals.
The PAFP Physician Leader of the Year is selected each year from among PAFP physician members in good standing who are directly and effectively involved in guiding family medicine activities or initiatives, overcoming challenges in practices or systems, and/or driving sustainable change to improve outcomes.
In recognition of the highest level of commitment to medical student and resident learning and success, this award is given to a physician educator who:
- employs innovative teaching methods to further residents’ and students’ excellence;
- supports and sustains mentorship practices within academic and/or health care systems; and
- serves as a role model in patient care delivery.
The PAFP Exemplary Teaching Award winner is selected each year from among PAFP physician members in good standing who are directly and effectively involved in educating family physicians of the future.
In recognition of the highest level of commitment to improving the health of individuals and communities through public service, this award is given to a physician who demonstrates significant, voluntary contributions to advancing quality health care for all, focusing on issues of access, equity and inclusion. New in 2026, the PAFP Community Service Award will be presented to a PAFP physician member in good standing who has made or is making a positive impact in the community and encouraging/influencing other health professionals and community members in their service efforts.

Who can nominate?
A member can nominate themselves or another member in good standing. If nominating someone else, they must consent to be considered.
When are award winners announced?
Awards are announced each year at the PAFP’s Spring CME Conference.
How are award winners celebrated?
Award winners are featured in the spring or summer issue of Keystone Physician magazine and receive a trophy/plaque in their honor.
All nominations are reviewed by the executive committee of the PAFP Board of Directors following the nomination deadline. All nominations must have complete information according to the nomination form.
